Vegas released its NBA title favorite odds, and for the first time in several years the Warriors aren’t the clear betting favorites to win it all. Even though Bovada has both the Warriors and Rockets listed as 6/5 favorites, Colin still gives the edge to Golden State.
The Warriors have been hit with late season injuries and slogged through an unremarkable regular season, which is common for teams that have made multiple title runs, but there’s no reason to think they won’t be locked in for the playoffs. They struggled down the regular season stretch last year, too, but soundly crushed everyone on their way to their second title in three years. Their path to this year’s Western Conference Finals should be a cake walk.
The Rockets have been dominant in the regular season and have the likely MVP in James Harden, but neither Harden or Mike D’Antoni have showed they are capable of even getting to the Finals. Especially against a Golden State team that has flipped the switch.
