Russell Westbrook put up a massive triple double in last night in Game 2 against the Rockets. The Thunder lost.
Westbrook put up 51 points, but turned in a vintage Kanye Westbrook performance in the fourth, going an ice-cold 4 for 18 with an extreme case of tunnel vision. Colin called it the worst single quarter performance by a player in NBA playoff history.
Today in The Herd, Colin said Westbrook is who he is.
He’s a Top-5 player, and the most physically gifted player in the league. He’s also a ball-centric point guard who plays recklessly, is undisciplined at the end of big playoff games, and isn’t self-aware enough to realize he’s a deficient outside shooter.
It’s like watching a Ferrari drive off a cliff. It doesn’t end well, but it’s hard to look away.
Last night was the perfect portrait of Westbrook. Russell and Kanye. Unfortunately for Thunder fans, Kanye was the closing act.
“The worst playoff performance of any NBA player in a quarter.”
