Notre Dame is one of the bedrock programs in the history of college football, but in today’s game, they face an uphill battle in recruiting because of strict academic requirements and the reality that the program’s brand name doesn’t resonate with 18-year old recruits like it did 30 years ago.
The Irish are coming off a four win season, and have averaged 5 losses in the last four seasons, and have only won 10 or more games 5 times since 1994. That’s not a powerhouse, that’s not even Oklahoma State.
Today, Colin said he thinks Paul Chryst and Wisconsin are currently a superior program to the Irish, and it’s not really a close call. They’ve won 10 or more games 5 times since 2010, including four 11-win seasons. The years they didn’t win double digit games they still won 9 and 8 games respectively.
Right now, Notre Dame is more about history, and Wisconsin is about W’s. They should continue to separate this year.
“Notre Dame right now is about a seven-and-a-half win program.”
