Colin has long been critical of Mike Tomlin-coached teams because they’re too emotional, lack attention to detail, and seem unprepared in late-game situations. Yesterday’s disappointing home-loss to Jacksonville was 3 hours of “Where Colin was Right,” in terms of Tomlin’s shortcomings as a coach.
Pittsburgh wasn’t ready to play and got buried by a 3 touchdown deficit early. Tomlin made head scratching playcalling decisions on short yardage fourth down plays, and dialed up a botched onside kick. All helped kill any momentum for a Pittsburgh comeback.
Colin doesn’t think Tomlin should be fired, but he can’t understand how he avoids any serious heat when everyone is ready to run Andy Reid out of town after every playoff loss. Yesterday had Tomlin’s fingerprints all over it, and not in a good way. It’s just the latest example of a team loaded with stars being done in by the details.
