Lonzo Ball made his NBA Summer League debut over the weekend to sold out crowds. He played one great game and one awful one. Even though he played a bad game, Colin likes what he sees in terms of Ball’s style of play that highlights his passing and getting teammates involved.
Much like Steph Curry has inspired young kids in gyms across the world to fall in love with the three, Colin thinks Ball has the potential to do the same for passing.
If Ball breaks out in his rookie year as a pass-first distributor in a new Showtime style, it could influence kids to emulate his passing as the new “cool” thing. It could also make the idea of score-first point guards in the NBA less of an appealing option in years to come.
“What Steph Curry is doing to the 3-point shot Lonzo Ball has the potential to do for passing.”
