The Rockets lead the NBA in wins, and most in the media think that James Harden the clear cut choice for NBA MVP. Today, Colin sized up the MVP race and thinks LeBron should get the nod over The Beard, even if it’s not the “cool” choice.
Not only is LeBron averaging more rebounds, assists, has a better field goal percentage, and is a superior defender than Harden, he’s also currently doing it without a coach and with a roster that was completely overhauled in the middle of the season.
Harden is unquestionably having a career year, but he also has Chris Paul to lean on and plays in the best offensive system in the league. In terms of value, without LeBron the Cavs would be in the lottery. The Rockets would still be a playoff team in the West.
LeBron isn’t ashamed to say he should win the MVP. Colin isn’t either. It may be the boring choice, but that doesn’t make it wrong.
