After a promising first round playoff win over the Heat, the Sixers and Ben Simmons looked poised to skip a step in ‘The Process’ and potentially win the East, this year. Less than 2 weeks later, Simmons has all but disappeared and Philly finds themselves in an 0-3 hole and facing elimination against Boston.
Even with a forgettable series against the Celtics, including a 1 point effort in Game 2 that was roundly mocked on the internet, Colin is doubling down on his proclamation from several weeks ago that Ben Simmons is the next truly transformative NBA superstar.
Colin thinks Simmons bad series is reminiscent of the early part of Magic Johnson’s career where he was nicknamed “Tragic johnson,” or LeBron’s meltdown in the 2011 Finals. Like Magic and LeBron, Simmons will learn from this and grow, and still become the Eastern Conference’s most transformative player over the next 10- to 15 years.
