Even casual U.S. soccer fans should get excited about Christian Pulisic. We’ve found our Lionel Messi. He’s doing things at 18 that no other U.S. soccer player has ever done on the international club level. He isn’t “good for an American”, he’s just good. He isn’t roasting the San Jose Earthquakes second rate scrubs, he’s doing it against traditional European super clubs.
Yesterday, with Borussia Dortmund trailing 2 -1 in the 87th minute of their Champions League match against Real Madrid, Pulisic flashed the tantalizing ability that has fans salivating for the future of American soccer. He set up the equalizer on a brilliant cross to Andre Schurrle.
Pulisic at 18 is already excelling at the highest level of international club soccer. The future of American soccer is here.
