Less than a week after clinching the #1 overall seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs, the Celtics sit in an 0-2 hole in their first round playoff matchup against the 8 seed Bulls. Chicago stole Game 2, 111-97, and will now head home after taking the first two games in Boston.
The Bulls balanced scoring attack featured six players in double figures, including Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade with 22 a piece. They led by 8 at halftime, and entered the fourth quarter with an 11-point lead.
Isaiah Thomas led all Celtics scorers with 20 points in the loss.
Former Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo unexpectedly turned back the clock with a vintage all-round floor game, reminiscent of his days in Boston.
Rondo, who was mired in drama with teammates and coaches for much of his first season in Chicago, racked up 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 14 assists.
The series moves to the United Center for Game 3 on Friday.
