Josh McDaniels left Indianapolis standing at the altar after verbally agreeing to become the next head coach of the Colts. Based on reports, McDaniels was as good as gone, but was convinced to stay with a final pitch from New England owner Robert Kraft that included a promise to be Bill Belichick’s successor whenever he retires.
Even though McDaniels is public enemy #1 in Indy, and likely burned every bridge to any NFL head coaching in the foreseeable future, Colin compared McDaniel’s decision to the many college recruits who will change their commitment at the last second on National Signing Day.
Colin understands the anger in Indy, but they need to get over it. This was recruiting, and the deal isn’t done until the the signature is on the dotted line.
“On National Letter of Intent Day, Bob Kraft flipped the best coordinator in football.”
