In what qualifies as a shocker of an NFL trade, the Bills have dealt wide receiver Sammy Watkins to the Rams for cornerback E.J. Gaines. The Bills will receive L.A.’s 2018 2nd round pick. The Rams get Buffalo’s 2018 6th rounder.
Watkins has been often injured during his time with Buffalo, and has never fully lived up to the hype of being selected with the 4th overall pick out of Clemson in the 2014 draft, but has shown big time playmaking ability when healthy.
He’ll now have an opportunity to reinvigorate his career with passing game guru Sean McVay, who will probably look to get him the ball more frequently than Rex Ryan did in Buffalo. IF Watkins can stay healthy.
