Local car commercials are one of the scourges of our country. Nothing is more annoying than the owner of a local car dealership who thinks a cheesy, poorly produced 30 second ad makes them a verifiable celebrity, worthy of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They’re the absolute worst.
The out takes from one local Minnesota car dealership commercial that was filmed at the University of Minnesota ice hockey rink are genuinely hilarious, even if it has nothing to do with the cheesy car commercial they were trying to shoot.
The commercial features the University of Minnesota mascot, Goldy Gopher, and a dumb looking white bear mascot from the car dealership. As everyone at the shoot quickly found out, giant bear mascots can’t walk worth a damn on ice.
The bear repeatedly ate it throughout the shoot, but his comedic timing is on par with Kramer from Seinfeld. You can’t teach that. The perma grin of an onlooking Goldy Gopher adds a nice mocking touch.
Have a good laugh at the bear, even though the guy in the costume probably has damaged internal organs.
Wipe that smug look off your face, Goldy. Jerk.
