The Browns just botched a trade deadline deal to acquire Bengal backup QB AJ McCarron by not properly notifying the league of the deal, and they’re nerd-filled Moneyball front office looks as disorganized and incompetent as ever.
MMQB NFL Insider Albert Breer joined The Herd, today, and told Colin that Peyton Manning, who is a close friend of Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam, could be targeted to oversee the Browns’ football operations and bring some credibility to the most embarrassing franchise in the league.
Colin thinks that bringing in Manning might be the only thing the Browns can do to convince potential #1 overall pick Sam Darnold that his career and future won’t be a disaster if he’s drafted by Cleveland. There’s no way Darnold is coming out of school to play for the current regime.
Watch Albert explain why Manning running the Browns makes sense.
