Everyone on the planet wants to see Conor McGregor fight Floyd Mayweather. The superfight between the MMA and boxing stars has been rumored for a year, but the parties are still miles apart in negotiations. If the two do eventually fight, it won’t be for a while.
In the absence of a real Pay Per View “Dream Fight”, one internet genius decided to simulate a Mayweather/McGregor showdown as it would appear in the original NES classic, Punch-Out.
In the re-creation, McGregor gets stuck with the character animations of notorious punching bags Glass Joe and Don Flamenco, but eventually gets the best of Money Mayweather when he ditches boxing for a full scale MMA-style beatdown.
Clearly whoever made this video is not on the “Money Team.”
The end of the video is pretty gruesome and kind of goes off the rails, but for anyone that fondly remembers playing the game as a kid, it’s a pretty well executed salute. It may be the only time we get to see these two fight.
